1/4/13 -- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is banking heavily on social media or Twitter to be precise to engage sports buffs as it gears up for the season 6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

29/4/13	The first 16 games of IPL 6 has registered a 140 million viewership, the highest ever in the last six years.
27/4/13	The Delhi High Court has stayed an order prohibiting the transmission of the AXN channel for one day for allegedly showing a film - Darkness Falls - with an ‘A' certificate. Issuing a notice to the information and broadcasting ministry, the court listed the matter for further hearing on 13 July.

22/4/13	Justice (Retd.) J.S. Verma, chairperson of the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) died. Verma, a former chief justice of India and former chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), was appointed the first chairperson of the NBSA, a self-regulatory body set up by News Broadcasters Association (NBA), on 2 October 2008.
22/4/13	Action has been initiated ten times against eight foreign television channels in 2011 and 2012 for violation of the Programme and Advertising Codes under the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act, 1995 and the rules framed there under. While FTV faced closure for ten days from 28 March this year, the AXN channel was taken off for one day. The other channels which were issued advisories or warnings included Sony Pix, Sony, TLC, and Zee Trends. Information and Broadcasting minister Manish Tewari told Parliament.

16/4/13	TRAI again extended the deadline for comments on its consultation paper on cross media ownership to 22 April, TRAI has asserted that this will be last opportunity for stakeholders to offer their comments.
15/4/13	The Supreme Court directed three public sector banks to deposit within 15 days a sum of Rs 4 billion with the Prothonotary and Master of Bombay High Court, who would then remit the money to the bank account of BCCI. Three nationalised banks had helped Nimbus to furnish un-conditional bank guarantee to the tune of Rs 16 billion to acquire the BCCI media rights.

The bench led by Justice Pradeep Nandrajog rejected the idea of self-regulation of the broadcasters. The directive came on a public interest litigation filed against 'Emotional Atyachar' show on UTV Bindass in 2010.
