Friday, December 02, 2005 -- Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry PriyaRanjan Das Munsi informed the Lok Sabha that the UPA government has prohibited transmission /retransmission of satellite channels like Blue Kiss, Blue Kiss Express, Blue Kiss Promo, TBL-XXX and free XTV for violating the programme and advertising code prescribed under the Cable television Network (Regulation) Act,1995.

Tuesday, December 20, 2005Broadcast appellate tribunal TDSAT stayed the 4 % increase in cable TV charges, which was to be effected from New year. A Bench of the Telecom Disputes and Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) passed an interim order to this effect on a petition by a consumer organisation ‘Grahak Hitvardhini Sarvajanik Sansthan’ TRAI had earlier increased cable Tariff by 4% on 29.11.05.

Friday, December 02, 2005The Government has notified the Uplinking Guidelines for television channels from India, which includes making it mandatory for private channels to share sports rights of events of national importance, including cricket, with public broadcaster Prasar Bharti. The new guidelines will come into effect from December 2 and will be applicable to all existing as well as new channels. Earlier the government had notified Downlinking Policy on 10 November 2005.
