Tuesday, August 01, 2006 -- The Central Government empowered TRAI to fix the prices of pay channels, if they are too high. It also ordered to cut-down the time Span of advertisements to 12 minutes.

Thursday, August 31, 2006	TRAI issue final notification on CAS detailing pricing mechanism. Individual pass channels have been price at Rs 5 each, no intervention in bouquet pricing, Also the notification lists out two standard tariff packages for providing Set-top-box to subscribers in CAS Areas.

A recent order from the Delhi branch of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) on the PanAmsat case has ruled that the payments made by TV channels to satellite do not constitute ‘royalties’ or ‘fees’ and such payments are not liable to be taxed in India.
