TRAI convened a meeting of the leading MSOs, providing cable TV services in Mumbai, Kolkata and 38 cities covered under phase II of DAS implementation, to review the progress of implementation of DAS. After discussions, TRAI has set the new deadlines for collection of consumer application forms from the subscribers, complete in all respects.

LCOs and multi-system operators (MSOs) in Kolkata have been given the deadline of August 23, 2013, to submit filled-in Consumer Application Forms (CAF) to the central Subscriber Management System (SMS). This was decided at a meeting in New Delhi between the TRAI brass and representatives of frontline city multi system operators (MSOs)

The cable operators have warned to switch off the news channels in and around Mumbai. They want the state to reduce the entertainment tax from the existing Rs 45 per month per consumer to Rs.15 or face closure of news channels during the state legislature's monsoon session.
