Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT), welcomed government’s decision to extend the deadline of “Requirement for Compulsory Registration Order 2012” by three months. The new deadline for the mandatory BIS certification is January 3, 2014.

Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has asked Cable Operators to pay Rs 25 for each electric pole a month for installing cable wires. Company had set a deadline of October 7 to clear the dues placing Cable Operators in difficult situation.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a consultation paper on extension of DTH licence. The matter has been taken up by TRAI after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had sent a reference letter to TRAI on September 30, asking to frame the terms and conditions for extension of DTH licence on expiry of the 10-year period.

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) said that a petition by Reliance Big Broadcasting, Mumbai, relating to their television channels will be heard along with other matters challenging issues relating to the ad cap sought to be implemented by the TRAI.The matters will be heard by the TDSAT on 21 October along with other channels such as Music Xpress, Mastiii, B4U Music, M Tunes and 9XM.
