29/10/09 -- Pakistan bans BBC broadcast on private FM channels

2/10/09	The National Commission for Protection of child Rights (NCPCR) and the Woman and Child Development Ministry (WCD)issued notices to NDTV Imagine and wrote to the I & B Ministry, demanding to stop the telecast of the reality show Pati, Patni Aur Woh, immediately.
6/10/09	The Central government issued a show-cause notice to the television channel NDTV Imagine for airing the reality show' 'Pati Patni our Woh', after the National Commission for Protection of child Rights Complained about the use of babies in the programme.
6/10/09	Yash Raj Films (YRF) entered into a partnership with Sony Entertaiment Television MSM Private Ltd. for producing exclusive fiction and non-fiction content for the channel.
6/10/09	With over 400 applications pending with the I & B Ministry to obtain licence for starting TV channels, the govt decided to  formulate fresh guidelines to keep out the non-professionals entering the media sector.
10/10/09	The Madras High Court has asked to the Central Govt. to appoint a regulatory body to prohibit obscene and pornographic material on the Internet and penalise Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and search engine companies for violation of licence conditions. Issuing the notice on the PIL field by an advocate R. Karthikeyan, the first bench comprising the chief Justice HL  Gokhale and Justice D. Murugesan posted the matter for hearing on November 4.

16/10/09	A man swallowing a snake and taking it out through his nostrils on a TV show has prompted I & B  ministry to slap a show. cause notice to sony channel as the ministry found the programme as indecent and in bad taste. The Channel was  given 15 days to file a reply.
16/10/09	The Prasar Bharti announced that UK-based Satellite Information Service  (SIS) will be its official broadcaster of the  Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi in October next year.
19/10/09	TRAI received two references from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting regarding foreign Investment limits for the   broadcasting sector and need for necessary modification in the uplinking and downlinking guidelines for television channels.
